PAKISTAN PAYS RICH TRIBUTES TO PRESIDENT KHALIFA FOR PROMOTING FRIENDLY TIES WITH ISLAMABAD

ISLAMABAD, May 13: The government and the people of Pakistan have expressed their heartfelt condolences over the death of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf, former PM Imran Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, political, social and religious leaders of Pakistan expressed their grief at the demise of the UAE president and termed his passing away a terrible loss particularly for the royal family and the people of the UAE.
During his tenure, the Pakistan-UAE relations advanced significantly in various sectors including trade, tourism, investment and energy.
Since 2004, when he came to power, President Sheikh Khalifa had been a true friend of Pakistan and always stood by the country in its hour of need. The two countries also enjoyed an unprecedented bond of friendship, mutual cooperation and respect.
President Arif Alvi in a message, said people of Pakistan stood by their brothers and sisters of the UAE in this hour of grief and sorrow.
He also paid rich tributes to President Khalifa for promoting friendly ties with Pakistan. Today Pakistan stands deprived of a great friend, said President Alvi in his tweet.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his grief saying he was deeply grieved to hear about Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed’s death.
“UAE has lost a visionary leader & Pakistan a great friend. We send our heartfelt condolences & sympathies to the government & people of the UAE. May Allah rest his soul in peace!” he tweeted. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed his condolences on the sad demise of the UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal family and the people of the UAE,” Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in a tweet.
Sheikh Khalifa brought prosperity to his country
Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani also expressed sorrow over the sad demise of the UAE President. In his message Sanjrani said Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan played an important role in the development and prosperity of the UAE.
Due to his economic and people-friendly policies, the United Arab Emirates has grown by leaps and bounds and has made significant strides. Imran Khan calls Sheikh Khalifa a visionary leader Former Prime Minister Imran Khan also reacted to President Khalifa’s death and said he was truly saddened to hear about the UAE president’s passing away.
He paid tribute to Khalifa, calling him a great friend of Pakistan and a visionary leader of his people.-NNI
