- -Says cut in interest rate to help boost economy
ISLAMABAD, April 17: Special Assistant to the PM on Information and Broadcasting DrFirdousAshiqAwan has said that personal protection equipment (PPE) will be provided to media workers from next week.
Addressing a news conference here on Friday, she said these kits will be provided to the journalists visiting isolation centers and quarantine centers. She said the media workers are playing the most effective and vanguard role against coronavirus and it is our responsibility to provide them the protection. She assured to protect the rights of media workers.
The Special Assistant said that nine journalists have so far been infected with the Covid-19 and they should use the app launch for them so that their difficulties could be addressed.
The Special Assistant said the media should cooperate with the government in containing the spread of the pandemic. She said the media should create awareness amongst the people about the precautionary measures that needs to be adopted to prevent the spread of the virus.
She said the doctors and nurses are waging a jihad against the pandemic and the media should fully project and highlight their services. She said the process of provision of personal protection equipment to them will be completed this week.
Referring to the incentive package announced for the construction, she said it is aimed at providing job opportunities to the workers and labourers in these testing times.
Separately, DrFirdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday that reduction in interest rates is a clear manifestation of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s commitment to boost economic activities in the country in wake of coronavirus spread.
In a tweet, she said two percent reduction in interest rates would help boost traders’ confidence and strengthen the economy. She said that it is mission of the government to keep the economy afloat and protect the labour class from poverty. -TLTP
