ISLAMABAD, August 7: HRDN launched a tree plantation drive,” Plant for Pakistan “as part of the 75th independenceanniversary celebrations atJamiaGhousia Zia-ul-Uloom Rawalpindi. Thestudents and management of Jamia and HRDN jointly planted 350 saplings of
Guava,Sukhcahin,Cypiam and Kachnar.
The students took an active part in the speech competition by highlighting the importance andenvironmental benefits of trees in the light of Quran and Sunnah. The deliberated that as per the Quranic teachings each of us is the custodian of nature so wehave to live in harmony with the environment. The world is scourged with climate change andextreme weather patterns, the trees can save us from the ill effects of climate change.
Prophet Muhammad SAW said: “If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or aperson or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift or sadaqah for him. (Bukhari) Ms. RobeelaBangash-CEO HRDN acknowledged the active participation of students, JamiaGhousia Management and of the partners in providing tree saplings. She said that treeplantation is a noble deed and is a major step forward in mitigating the dangers ofclimate change. The post plantation care was emphasized and the idea of “Adopt aPlant” was shared.
