For the first time, Tajikistan is showcasing its clothing products at the international fashion exhibition Central Asian Fashion that kicked off Almaty, Kazakhstan on 10 August 2022, ASIA- Plus reported.
The International Trade Center (ITC) Office in Tajikistan says that Tajikistan delegation, in addition to participating in the fair, will also benefit from b2b meetings to establish direct contacts and expand the cooperation opportunities.
The Tajikistan booth at the Central Asian Fashion has reportedly displayed products of five clothing companies: Gulistoni Dushanbe and TojTex from Dushanbe, Nohid from Istaravshan, as well as Ortex and Rahimov A.A. from Khujand.
The Tajik companies have put on display the ready garments, including clothes for men, women and children, knitwear, ladies’ and gentlemen’ underwear, sportswear, and different uniforms at the fair that runs through August 12.
Five more Tajik textile and clothing companies — Guldaston and Sifat Sanoat from Dushanbe, Nassoji Khujand from Khujand, KOTA Global from Bokhtar, as well as the ITC’s newest partner, Botur from Konibodom — joined the delegation to discover the fair and to get exposure to textile and clothing retail environment in Kazakhstan.
Mr. Rustam Shodibekov, ACT Consulting Group Managing Director and ITC GTEX National Consultant on T&C sector, has high expectations from the attendance of the Tajik companies at the fair: “The Tajik companies will become familiar with the Kazakh market and its potentials, meet potential trade partners, establish new business contacts, learn new trends in the industry, collect relevant information about the market, competitors, etc. The Tajik delegation will also have the opportunity to attend research and training conferences, workshops and roundtable discussions.”
Abdurashid Abdukhamidov, Tojtex Director: “I think that participating at this fair is useful and beneficial for us. We should closely watch the trends in our region, in our neighboring countries and this event gives us a good opportunity to do this. Also, we will be able to build direct business linkages and partnerships with potential clients and we hope it helps to diversify our orders and sourcing opportunities.”
ITC believes that participation in international trade fairs provides good opportunities for project beneficiary companies to be competitive in regional markets through the establishment of new business contacts, obtaining new information on the sector developments, and learning more about the global and regional market requirements. Such trade missions are also important for the export diversification.
The program to Almaty is made possible thanks to the close collaboration between ITC and GIZ and in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan. The project of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Tajikistan, Integrated Rural Development Project /TRIGGER, is jointly funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The International Trade Centre’s Global Textiles and Clothing Program (GTEX) is funded by the Government of Switzerland and aims to promote T&C exports and to stimulate employment and income generation along the value chain. Tajik local consulting companies – “ACT Development” (Dushanbe) and “Business Consulting Group” (Khujand) organized the attendance of the Tajik delegation at the fair and trip to Almaty.
The Central Asia Fashion is one of the oldest fashion exhibitions in the Central Asian region. Held twice a year, the fair is organizing its 30th edition. The event serves as an important platform to establish business contacts and provides a remarkable opportunity to promote products and demonstrate them to professional audience – fashion retailers and buyers from all over the Central Asian region.
