Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari and Annageldy Yazmyradov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government in charge of the agro-industrial complex, in a meeting in Turkmenistan’s Avaza National Tourist Zone on Monday underlined the need to expand cooperation in the agricultural and environmental sectors.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Ministerial Transport Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries.
Safari pointed to Iran’s successful experience of building the Doosti (Friendship) joint dam and said Iranian companies are ready to supply the technical know-how of seed modification to Turkmenistan and breed modified trees in the country, according to the press release of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Iran.
Safari further stressed the possibility of exporting agricultural machinery such as tractors and pesticides from Iran to Turkmenistan. In the meeting, Yazmyradov welcomed Safari’s proposals and stressed the need to use trade and cooperation opportunities in the agricultural and environmental sectors. Mehdi Safari also held separate meetings with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, Shahym Abdrakhmanov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government overseeing the country’s oil and gas industry, and Charymyrat Purchekov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government in charge of the construction, industrial and energy issues.
