KARACHI, August 28: Acting Governor Sindh, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, while giving an interview to an international television, said that on the instructions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, we are distributing bags of wheat among the people affected by recent rains.
In a interview with an international television channel Sunday, he said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari directed all the members of Parliament including the Lower House and the Upper House to go to their respective areas. “For asking care of people personally I am also visiting different places here for a week as there was a lot of damage due to the collapse of the houses and infrastructure”, he added.
He said that Cities were submerged in water all over Sindh. Agha Siraj said that this is the first tent city, and with the support of friends, our plan is to save people. Agha SirajDurrani further said that this is a very difficult task as this is the third time after the floods of 2010 and rains of 2012 which has put us in a lot of trouble.
He said that this is the most merciless flood, everything in the entire province has been ruined and destroyed by the floods. Sindh government is working very hard, with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visiting every nook and corner of the province, he observed.
The Acting Governor Sindh said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan also came here and conducted an aerial visit, he has seen most of the places with our chairman. He said that we should ensure the provision of basic facilities at this time, we are working on tents and food items while ambulances have been provided and doctors are also doing their duty everywhere.
“We need a lot of help, he added and said you can help us, there are areas where there are no roads to reach, you cannot drive down because of the mud. All the administrations of Larkana division including Shikarpur district to ensure the movement of people to safe areas, cities, small towns and villages,” he said.
