ISLAMABAD, August 28: Policy Institute For Peace & Development in collaboration with the Embassy of Kazakhstan to Pakistan organized a conference on AbaiQunanbaiuly&Allama Iqbal- cultural linkages between Kazakhstan and Pakistan here at National University of Modern Languages in Islamabad.
Representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Research Institutes, Central Asian experts,
University faculty and students in large number attended the event.
Members of Kazakhstan-Pakistan friendship group Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati and Dr. ZarqaSuharwardyTaimur, as well as Walid Iqbal took part in the conference as guests of honour.
Kazakhstan Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin in his comprehensive address said that both Pakistan and Kazakhstan enjoy cordial relations and there exists wide scope for further promotion and strengthening of this relationship. The Senators delivered speeches on the contribution and heritage of Kazakhstan and Pakistan and great thinkers.
From Kazakhstan side, the event was attended by ZhadyraBainazar, International Cooperation Department Director at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and YerdenIbrayev, Associate Professor at Kostanay Regional University.
The event began with a welcoming speech of Professor Khalid Iqbal Nasir, who translated the words of Abai into Urdu in 1997, 25 years ago.
On the occasion a documentary about the main milestones of Great Abai’ biography was exhibited.
Within the framework of the conference, a photo exhibition on modern Kazakhstan was also organized. The participants of were able to get acquainted with the sights of Kazakhstan.
