Mirwaiz stresses on peaceful solution of Kashmir

WASHINGTON D.C./ SRINAGAR, April 1: Kashmiris staged an impressive peaceful demonstration in Washington D.C. in favour of the resolution of the Kashmir dispute and against Indian atrocities on the people of occupied Kashmir.
Hundreds of participants, who came from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Washington gathered in front of the Washington D.C. Convention Center during the Nuclear Security Summit. They were carrying placards with the messages like “Kashmir: Nuclear flashpoint”, “Time to resolve the Kashmir dispute is now”, “Freedom for all: Freedom for Kashmir”, “Kashmiris demand right of self-determination”, “India: Stop human rights violations in Kashmir” and “Road to Kabul runs through Kashmir.”
Addressing the protesters, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General, World Kashmir Awareness, said, “All those leaders attending the Nuclear Summit and those who are interested in the world peace are urged to persuade both India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir dispute for the sake of international peace and security.”
Dr Imtiaz Khan, President of Kashmiri American Council, said that Kashmir was the bone of contention between India and Pakistan and the world powers must impress upon the Government of India to stop human rights violation in occupied Kashmir.
Meanwhile, APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has stressed the peaceful settlement of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.
Addressing a public gathering in Srinagar, Friday, he said that the amicable resolution of the dispute would bring progress and prosperity in the region. He said that settlement of the dispute was also in the interest of India.-KMS
