bannedLAHORE: Fact finding committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), probing the team’s poor show in the World Twenty20 2016, has suggested a ban on Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz, Shoaib Malik and Ahmed Shehzad, citing sources ARY News reported.
Sources said that PCB’s committee has prepared its report which will be presented to the board’s Chairman Shahryar Khan on Friday (today).
It is being said that the fact finding committee has stated in the report Shahid Afridi’s attitude was the reason of the national team’s poor show in the tournament.
It should be noted that Pakistan were knocked out of the tournament after managing to win just one match in the tournament. They could only overcome Bangladesh in the Super-10 stage but were eliminated from the running following losses to Australia, India and New Zealand.
It was also mentioned that the T20 skipper played with four pacers in the match against India despite being refrained by the Head Coach Waqar Younis, sources said.
The committee, as per sources, has confirmed that grouping did take place in the national side during the team’s World T20 campaign. The body has also stated that the performance of Wahab Riaz, Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad and Shoaib Malik was “surprisingly below the standard”. Sources have added that the probe committee has suggested PCB to impose an announced or unannounced ban on the four players.
It was also mentioned in the report that Mohammad Amir was forced to play the matches against Australia and New Zealand despite being unfit to perform in the matches. – Agencies
