TEVTA enrols 37000 trainees in different industries of Punjab

LAHORE, April 04: Chairperson Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has said that more than 37000 trainees have been enrolled as apprentices in different industries of Punjab up-to March 2016.
All the Regional Directorates of Apprenticeship Training would achieve the target of 65,000 apprentices up to December, 2016. According to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, TEVTA is endeavoring to promote apprenticeship training scheme in the Punjab.
He was addressing a meeting to review the progress of Apprenticeship Training Scheme here yesterday at TEVTA Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Chief Operating Officer TEVTA Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, TEVTA Officers Azhar Iqbal Shad, Hamid Ghani Anjum, Umer Farooq, Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Maqsood Ahmed, Waheed Asghar, Sarfraz Anwar and others.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that TEVTA also successfully reached the target to recruit 28,000 apprentices up to December, 2015. The number of enrollment of apprentices is constantly growing. It is mentioned that the strength of on roll apprentices up to June 2015 was 14,018. The enhancement will play vital role in promoting Apprenticeship Training Scheme across the province of the Punjab.Chairperson TEVTA further said that in addition to enrolling maximum number of apprentices, the said scheme is also being made more flexible to give maximum benefit to our youth. Efforts are being carried out to bring the maximum number of industries under the purview of Apprenticeship Ordinance, 1962. Recently, 147 new industries have been notified for implementation of apprenticeship scheme, whereas 50 industries are under process of notification, he concluded.-DNA
