- Says police will work in accordance with the law and the government will not interfere in its work
PESHAWAR, April 6: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday announced that the provincial government plans to introduce a Police Act in Khyber Paktunkhwa (KP) in order to give autonomy to the police.
While addressing a press conference, Khan stated that the police will work in accordance with the law and that the government will not interfere in its work.
He added that work is underway in order to introduce the Police Act in the province as a result of which, the police cannot be controlled through transfers or postings.
Khan said that his party and the provincial government aim to give autonomy to the police, not to make it subordinate and utilise it the way it is being in Punjab.
Khan said that police in Punjab the police is being used for political motives. He added that none will be able to strengthen their businesses while being part of the government in the province, further adding that the Accountability Act that will be introduced in KP will greatly decrease the province’s problems.
PTI Chairman said that the government and the Accountability Commission in KP have been completely separated from one another. He said that the final report of the Accountability Commission will first be introduced in the cabinet and then the assembly, adding that improvements have been made through the new Accountability Act.-Agencies
