- Karachi court issues Sarfraz Merchant’s non-bailable arrest warrant
ISLAMABAD, April 6: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday has prepared a charge sheet against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief and Muhammad Anwar on evidences provided by Sarfaraz Merchant.
According to FIA, the chargesheet was prepared under the provisions of money laundering, connections with RAW and conspiracies against Pakistan.

On the other hand, a court in Karachi on Wednesday has issued non-bailable arrest warrant of Sarfraz Merchant who had returned two days ago to record statement to FIA in Altaf Hussain’s money laundering case.
A case has been registered against him in Darakhshan police station under sections 420 and 506. Challan filed by the police writes Merchant a fugitive. Complainant has alleged Merchant of threatening to file a bogus case, receiving Rs 12 crore and snatching his car on March 12, 2014.
The warrants came two days after he recorded his statement with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding funding of Indian spy agency to Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
Judicial Magistrate South issued the warrants when the court heard a petition of a man Zafar Faridi. Judicial Magistrate South heard a fraud case against Merchant and ordered authorities to present him before court on April 21.
The complainant claimed that Merchant had snatched a car from him and extorted Rs. 2.5 million after threatening to file a fake case.
Reports said police have declared Merchant as ‘absconder’ in the challan. The UK-based businessmen has provided documents to FIA against MQM leader Altaf Hussain over alleged money laundering and alleged connection with RAW.
He has also recorded his statement to an FIA committee probing allegations against the MQM head. Merchant is a suspect in money laundering case against MQM chief.-Sabah
