PESHAWAR, April 10 : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Finance Muzaffar Said Advocate has said he and his Ministry was not part of the extension of Custom Act 1969 to PATA. Addressing a certificate distribution ceremony at a religious seminary “Banatul Islam Academy Talash Narai Sha” as chief guest, the Minister said that people of Malakand Division along with elected representatives had rejected the enforcement of Custom Act in PATA and the government would be compelled to withdraw its notification in this regard. The Minister announced Rs 1 million for the seminary and its adjacent mosque. About girls’ education he said that girls had equally needed both contemporary and religious education. The local elite Bakht Zamin Khan while addressing the gathering said the western lobby in Pakistan wanted to disturb family system and keep women away from religious education but it instead created disorders and unrest in western culture. The seminary’s chief Maulana Ibrahim, Qari Saeedullah, Maulana Muhammad Haq and others also spoke on the occasion. Certificates and gifts were distributed among female students of the seminary who completed ‘hadiths’ course.-PR
