LAHORE, April 21: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has set a big example of accountability without discrimination which has been admired by political leadership and declared it as a path to follow for political parties, sources reported.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has demanded answer from Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif over corruption allegations. Opposition Leader Khurshid Shah said that COAS has started accountability from his institution, other should do the same.
Addressing to a ceremony in Lahore, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that COAS has set a great example by starting accountability from his own institution.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has also declared it a good gesture by Army Chief. Talking to Dunya News, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said that those involved in money laundering should also be held accountable. While Farhatullah Babar said that everyone should be held accountable including politicians and judges.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the army has taken a big step and its time that the government should also reveal the truth.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Siraj-ul-Haq said that political parties should do their accountability themselves while other leaders including Awami Nation Party (ANP) leader Zahid Khan has welcomed Army Chief’s gesture over accountability.-Agencies
