ISLAMABAD, April 25: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs (SAPM), Tariq Fatemi has lauded the elevation of relations between Pakistan and China.
Cheng Guoping, State Commissioner for Counter-Terrorism and Security of China on Monday called on Tariq Fatemi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Fatemi lauded the elevation of relations between the two countries to the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and stated that friendship with China was the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
He appreciated that Pakistan and China enjoyed complete unanimity of views and excellent cooperation in counter-terrorism and security matters.
The SAPM highlighted Pakistan’s numerous sacrifices and significant contribution to the global fight against terrorism. He briefed Cheng about Pakistan’s National Action Plan to combat terrorism that has targeted all terrorist groups without distinction and has yielded very positive results. He also apprised his Chinese interlocutor about the measures taken by Pakistan about safety and security of Chinese nationals, including those working on various projects related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Cheng Guoping stated that China and Pakistan have close pragmatic cooperation in the counter terrorism and security domain. The two countries maintained a well-coordinated information sharing and enforcement mechanism in this regard. He appreciated Pakistan’s role in combating terrorism and the support and assistance provided by it to China in combating ETIM perpetrated terrorism. The Chinese State Commissioner expressed complete satisfaction over the efforts and arrangements made for safety and security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.-Online
