What good is the OIC for the muslim world if it cannot solve problems confronting it? Half a century back it was created apparently for the good of the muslims spread over in over fifty countries of the world. Its performance in every field of life is pathetic.It hasn’t succeeded in bridging the gap among the various sects of muslims whose adherants continue to cut throat of one another. One cannot cite a single field of life in which it had done any noteworthy thing. There are many member muslim countries of this organization which are flush with money but the past time of their rulers are purchase of fancy cars and aeroplanes and prime land and property abroad, mostly in Europe and US.Why on earth should Dubai rulers be toying with the idea of building new Taj Mahal in their desert country, double the size of Taj Mahal Agra? Is history not repeating itself because when European rulers were inventing printing press, muslim rulers were busy in raising colossal palaces in the sub-continent. Why it never crosses their mind that there is a need of scientific research in the muslim world, there is a paucity of state-of-the-art hospitals in the muslim world, there is a crying need for quality educational institutions like the Harward, Oxford or Cambridge, to mention a few in the muslim countries? The tragedy with the muslim world is that most of its rulers are lackeys of Washington. They play second fiddle to the tenants of the White House. There are some of them who get their cue from Moscow also. Both these super powers had never allowed in the past nor they would permit them in future to join ranks. Their strategy has always been to play off one against the other and it has been yielding rich dividends to them.
Some of the muslim countries of the OIC are notorious for sponsoring and promoting their peculiar sects in this country and the modus operandi they adopt for the purpose is that they bankroll those religious seminaries in Pakistan which propagate their religious viewpoint. The irony is that in their own countries no mosque or seminary can be raised without their permission while they expect our rulers to follow a different set of standards. They and their cronies in this country take umbrage if somebody objects to the setting up of seminaries belonging to their respective sects in this country. What a pity that no government in this country, past or present, had ever had the audacity to tell them to stay their hand in the matter and don’t fight their sectarian battle on our soil instead of slugging it out in their own countries.
Nothing is going to happen if the OIC which is a toothless organization is disbanded. The muslim world would be better off without it.
