PESHAWAR, April 25: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that there is shortage of funds in KP, adding that the money is sent abroad how the funds will be collected at federal level. Imran said this is saying consortium of international journalists and he is not saying this. He said the timber mafia is a big crime than the offshore companies. He said during the past 10 years trees worth Rs 200 billion have been deforested illegally in Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa.
“Those who committed this act are big criminals than those named in the Panama Papers,” said Khan while addressing a ceremony in Peshawar. He said rising population and climate change impacts would affect the country.
“Pakistan is the 8th country worst affected by environmental changes.” “We have to think today, country will suffer a lot in coming years if revolutionary steps are not taken today”, said Khan. He said the challenges facing the government would reflect in future generation.
Khan reiterated that until tax collection will not be improved, the country will have to rely on external sources.
The PTI chairman added: “If we show improvement in tackling climate change impacts, we can get foreign funds to save the country from threats arising out of the growing environmental changes.” Imran said KP government plant one billion trees till 2018. He said during the 68 years history of Pakistan only 0.64 billion trees have been planted. -Sabah
