- Says Gen Raheel has taken notice against his own institution for the first time over death of Aftab Ahmed
SUKKUR/ISLAMABAD, May 08: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah has said that opposition is ready to hold talks with government for the preparation of ToRs of Panama paper leaks proposed commission. He said that opposition will hold joint meeting today (Monday), adding that opposition is ready to hold investigations of offshore companies present in Panama and other parts of the world. He said opposition would agree upon including the issue of taking kick backs, corruption and wavering off loans in ToRs of Panama paper leaks commission. He said that if Nawaz Sharif is not scared from Panama paper leaks issue it is good sign, adding that it will be good thing if prime minister will face the nation. He said if the government will contact with the opposition regarding the preparation of ToRs then opposition will be happy to hold dialogues. He said the opposition will hold dialogues when the government will make contact. He said that the real place of prime minister is parliament and if he is not ready to face the parliament it is up to him.
This he said while talking to media persons in Sukkur and in an interview with a private TV channel. Shah said he is saying from the day one that the investigations against all the names appeared in Panama should be carried out. He said that whosoever got loan waver off is equally accused. He said the beauty of the democracy lies in dialogues. He said the categories of the accused would be prepared that who will come first and whole will come later but all they are accused.
Shah said that all the persons named in the Panama Papers will have to undergo accountability. He said, “If Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants to escape from accountability then it is his choice.” He said that it will be a good thing if the premier presents himself for accountability.
The opposition leader went on to say that that politician does not get scared neither he panics. He asked, “Why the government is asking to forgive those who got their loans waived off?”
Shah said that a person is elected prime minister only when the nation votes for him/her. He advised the premier to speak on the issue in the Parliament.
He said Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has taken notice against his own institution first time in the history of the country over the death of MQM worker Aftab Ahmed, adding that he appreciates army chief over this step. He said Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan should set up the commission over the death of MQM worker Aftab Ahmed, adding that Chaudhry Nisar should write to Supreme Court and High Court for the formation of commission Sindh government will follow the matter.
Shah said the prime minister should not make decisions hastily, adding that he is friend of prime minister. He said no one should think his opponents weak, adding Musharraf was very powerful and had used to say he will not allow Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif to return home but now Musharraf after becoming week went abroad through striking deal with the government.
He said that the chair of the prime minister is not so strong, adding that no politician has said that he will not complete five year tenure.
He said that the dialogue is the beauty of the democratic process, adding that prime minister should remember the August 2014 situation. – SABAH
