The chain of news is not very encouraging and good for the MNS enthusiasts— those who are banking heavily on the argument that the Prime Minister is not mentioned directly in the Panama Leaks— Also on the argument that he should not be singled out in the accountability process and should be one of many to be investigated.
The COAS has at last not only met the Prime Minister, but also has conveyed to him a stern message from the armed forces. “Come clean Mr Prime Minister. Pakistan is already caught up in a war, and in this situation cannot afford to be destabilized by a scandal like this.”
These are not the exact words spoken. But the “reportedly spoken” words seek to communicate no other message.
The other news is that the nine-question questionnaire that Mian Sahib is required to answer in the Parliament when he finally graces it with his presence on Friday will require on the Prime Minister’s part very high degree of brilliance and communicational skill to answer in a way that serves two purposes at a time. Number one-his answers are good enough to satisfy his critics. Number two—he does not get caught in the quagmire of perjury.
By every understandable explanation (of the emerging scenario) a strange kind of countdown has begun that is likely to land this country in yet another era of ‘A NEW BEGINNING’.
