- War on terror’ has to be won by joint efforts: Khattak

ISLAMABAD, January 20: Chairman PTI Imran Khan has termed terrorist attack on Bacha khan university, Charsadda as barbaric and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of martyrs of the attack.
Attacking innocent students and civilians, he said is extremely inhuman and could not be tolerated at any cost.
“Terrorists are seeking to attack soft targets like that of academic institutions as they had to face tough resistance from our armed forces, police and other law enforcement agencies after the emergence of nation’s common resolve of uprooting terrorism from Pakistan”.
KP had been vulnerable to the terrorist attacks due to its geographical location being an immediate neighbour to FATA where a combat operation is being carried out by Pak Army even these days, he said adding that the timely response by police and army personnel today prevented nation from a tragedy like APS where more then hundred innocent students had been brutally assassinated. He pointed out that for the first time local population carried arms and came forward to counter an armed assault by the terrorist on their children at the university. Later talking to media at Bacha Khan university, Chairman PTI applauded university guards for confronting terrorists initially and foiling their plan of delivering pain and anarchy at grave level. He Then visited DHQ Charsadda and inquired about the health of injured. Earlier responding to a question asked by a journalist, chairman PTI, being the first head of a political party who arrived on ground; explained that provincial government has beefed up the security of educational institutions through SOPs designed for about 64000 schools of the province. Measures to counter new wave of terrorism are inevitable and PTI’s provincial government will not leave any stone unturned to ensure security of our children, he added. Nation stands united against the menace of terrorism which eventually be uprootd completely through coordinated efforts at all levels, he concluded. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khan Khattak has expressed grief over the brutal massacre that took place at Bacha Khan University Charsadda on Wednesday. While talking a private TV channel, CM Khattak said that he is in contact with the concerning departments despite being in Scotland. He said that KP government is fully assisting Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies and other security personnel in launching the investigation against the attack. It’s a war, which has to be won by the united efforts. I urge all the parties and international community to play encouraging role in war on terror, he added. He revealed that the terrorists still have hideouts near Pakistan-Afghanistan border. He assured that the forces are holding anti-terrorist operations in the province to ensure the law and order situation however; the main issue is to stop the militants from destroying peace of the region. Earlier on Wednesday, around four terrorists entered Bacha Khan University in Charsadda district, roughly 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the city of Peshawar, killing 20 people and injuring several others.
