RAWALPINDI, May 24: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif met Chief of General Staff Czech Republic Armed Forces General Josef Becvar on Tuesday at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in the garrison city.
“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including regional security situation and measures to enhance defence cooperation between both the countries were discussed” the ISPR statement said.
The statement also said that General Josef appreciated the efforts of Pakistan army in Operation Zarb-i-Azb.
General Josef also lauded the army’s measures to bring peace and stability in the region, ISPR said.
Earlier, on arrival at General Headquarters, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan army presented Guard of Honor to the visiting dignitary, who laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
Meanwhile Maldives Defence Minister, Mr Adam Shareef Umar called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday at GHQ.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), issues of mutual interest including regional security and defence cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
The Maldives Defence Minister appreciated the successes of operation Zarb-e-Azb and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Pakistani security forces.
Earlier, on arrival at GHQ, Defence Minister Mr Adam Shareef Umar laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly truned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary.-Sabah
