Aitzaz-AhsanISLAMABAD, May 31: Senator Aitzaz Ahsan says that a deadlock persists between government and opposition members regarding terms of references (TORs) being formulated to hold a judicial probe into the Panama Leaks.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Ahsan said that aggressive statements issued by the government’s team have affected the progress made by the committee. “We are disappointed by the attitude of the government,” he said. “The join opposition has worked hard on TORs in line with the letter of the Supreme Court,” he said.
Ahsan said that opposition asked the government to accept their 15 points and also brought their own proposals. “May the Almighty give health to Prime Minister Sahab, but it appears as if the government has become paralyzed,” he said.
He said that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar would be busy in budget over the next three to four days. Speaking on this occasion, PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi urged the government members to refrain from making provocative statements.
He said that committee suspended its meeting today on the request of government. Jamaat-e-Islami leader Sahibzada Tariq said that the matter was moving ahead at a snail’s pace. “We will share our version with the nation within two weeks,” he said. -DNA
