ISLAMABAD, June 1: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said that deadlock over the Terms of References (ToRs) regarding Panama Leaks is not in favour of the government.
Talking to media in Parliament House, Khursheed Shah reiterated that matter of Panama Leaks should be investigated. It may be noted that the parliamentary committee comprising six members each from the government and the opposition held its first meeting on May 25. The committee was set up to come up with Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the proposed inquiry commission after Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali refused the federal government’s request to form a judicial commission to investigate the Panama Papers data leak, saying it will take years to complete its proceedings with the provided Terms of Reference.
Khursheed Shah said that opposition has no wish to take politics on streets however; if the deadlock on ToRs did not end then they will be forced to take the step. He said that he will talk to the speaker in this matter.
Opposition leader also told the media that Aitzaz Ahsan has informed him of the progress of parliamentary committee. While talking about President’s address, he said that they will listen to it with patience and hoped that the President will also speak about corruption.
On a question regarding Interior Minister’s criticism over Bilawal Bhutto, Khursheed Shah replied that Bilawal, Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Bhutto are well-known people whereas the relatives of other people are not even known to their own neighbours. -DNA
