Water scarcity is assuming dangerous proportions by the day but the government is not alive to the situation as it should be. There are reports from different cities of the country of grave water crisis which has forced the people to take to the streets. The opposition too, barring the MQM, is more concernced about the Panama leaks instead of water scarcity. One would have liked them to take out protest processions on this issue for highlighting the government’s apathy in the matter but in vain.
The grown and growing water shortage is a potential time bomb which can explode any time . If the experts won’t come out with a concrete solution of the issue it would become serious as the minutes tick by. The government and the opposition too had better get their act together and correct their priorities before the situation gets out of their control. Sometime one feels that our leaders are bent upon proving Sir Winston Churchill right who had opposed partition of the sub-continent in 1947 saying that power would pass on to the freebooters and men of little intelligence who would shed one another’s blood and who would tax drinking water also. Isn’t it a fact that the reason why we have come to such a pass today is because we were never blessed with honest leadership. Countries like China, Malaysia, Singapore, to mention a few were lucky enough to have honest leaders in the true sense of the word as a result of which they made tremendous progress in almost every field of life.
Imran Khan , is perhaps, the only leader who has been keeping non-stop pressure on the government through a series of public rallies in the entire country thus giving sleepless nights to Shareef family and in the process creating a lot of work for Parvez Rashid too, who as information minister, has to to counter the criticism of the PTI chief by issuing rejoinders or coming on the TV screen to reply him.
POSTSCRIPT: By and large the cricket team selected by the Chief selector to tour England this summer is not bad given the stuff and material available in the country. Our boys are going to England after a long time where the playing conditions are going to be quite different from the conditions they have been playing in the Emirates for quite some time now To adjust themselves in them is not going to be an easy task. If paceman Amir and Yasir Shah got the opportunity to play in England they are quite capable of springing surprise. In point of fact they are the only two such bowlers who can create difficulties for the England’s batsmen with their pace and spin.
