tasneem-890x395ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has sped up diplomatic efforts for inclusion in Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) and stressed that immunity for a specific country in South Asia will be a threat to regional peace, sources reported.
Tasneem Aslam, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, today briefed diplomatic staff of the NSG member states on urging them to favor Pakistan’s inclusion in the group. The briefing was attended by ambassadors and senior diplomats.
She highlighted aspects that justify Pakistan’s membership of the NSG. These included Pakistan’s technical experience, nuclear capability, its resolve for nuclear non-proliferation and measures to ensure nuclear security.
Aslam also stressed on equally treating all states that have not signed a treaty of nuclear non-proliferation, adding, “Immunity for a specific South Asian country will pose a serious threat to regional security”.-Agencies
