Many important political developments have taken place on the national and international fronts which are going to be of far reaching consequences in the near and distant future.
The result of referendum in Britain has shaken the Conservative party and the prime minister David Cameron who was the greatest champion of Britain’s membership in the European Union is going to resign soon because electorate in Britain has rejected his plea that the Britons should vote in favour of remaining in the EC. Who is going to succeed him would be known soon? Those Britons have won who think that open door policy has resulted in influx of Europeans into Britain thus adversely affecting its social services and crowding the already overcrowded country.
On the home front tension between the PML(N) and opposition is growing by the day. The PML(N) is handicapped with the absence of its leader Nawaz Shareef from the country. Obviously, no country can be controlled or managed through remote control and that too when its ruling political party appears to be a house divided against itself. The ruling party is seething with division from within and amongst the present lot of its leaders present in the country none is capable enough to sort things out. In point of fact many of its ministers are not on speaking terms too. If the PM manages to return home by the end of this month, as is widely believed, he could still be able to repair the damage done to his party but if he delays his return, in that case, he and his party is likely to suffer tremendously.
Till yesterday Hussain Haqqani used to be the blue eyed boy of the PPP. Today it disowns him. Such are the vagaries of politics. This person has, during his political career, changed colors like the proverbial chamelion so many times that he is billed by his detractors as nobody’ s man.
The common man has not appreciated the recent attempts of the members of the national assembly as well as those of the provincial assembly of KPK to wangle increase in their monthly pay manifold because of the financial constraints through which the country was passing.
