CMKPKPervezKhattak1PESHAWAR, August 1: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak in a meeting here today agreed to the preliminary design of Mass Transit scheme that is Rapid Bus Service for Peshawar for initial three corridors to be extendable to 15 in future. The corridor included the central corridor starting from Chamkani towards Khyber Bazar, Dabgari garden, Cantt, Tehkal, University Town, Board and Hayatabad with service areas in Karkhano market and the entire city routes. The second corridor will be from Chamkani to the southern ring road towards Hayatabad and the Northern corridor will use the areas connecting through northern ring road.
The Chief Minister also agreed to the implementation strategy for demonstration of pilot project and approved location and reserves that included Bus Terminal and planning at Sewerage at Hayatabad and ordered to prepare the hiring of professionals from the market on competitive package. Earlier a detail presentation was given to the participants of the meeting indicating the pledged foreign investment for the project, the quality of the project, the time compression as wished by the Chief Minister and the Chief Minister agreed to overall communication strategy.
Mr. Pervez Khattak in his remarks directed to recruit a Chief Executive of the project in order to facilitate the implementation and the process of implementation on the project. The Chief Minister said that we cannot afford the wastage of time in initiating the project. This project, he added, we wanted to be unique costing less and giving more to the public without compromising the quality of the project. His government believed in openness and transparency with speed to execute schemes and the Peshawar Rapid Bus transport scheme is a challenge that his government accepted to put on ground within a record time and the highest quality of work. Merit is the sole criteria which his government could never compromise. His government would certainly amend the rules of business and would bring legislation that would facilitate the rapid completion of this project.
The Chief Minister said that it is a project that his government thought about, discussed it at different forums and went for a collective decision. We have set our targets despite we have a lot of issues but there is no match to our commitment to integrate the entire Peshawar valley through a unique transporting system so that the congestion and the unruly vehicular traffic is controlled and let the people heave a sigh of relief. He said that there will be separate unit for the project and he himself will monitor the project. -PR
