Mehmood Khan AchakzaiPESHAWAR, August 9: Mehmood Khan Achakzai, chief of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has made yet another controversial remark in context of Quetta’s deadly Civil Hospital suicide blast saying that pointing fingers only at Indian RAW would not sail country s boat in war on terror, reported Tuesday.
In a statement produced a day after a blast claimed 71 lives in Quetta, Achakzai said that country’s intelligence agencies could trace a needle from murky water, how could they have missed extremists.
The PkMAP’s leader held intelligence agencies and law enforcement departments responsible for the negligence adding that Indian agencies are not the only ones to be blamed. “Our intelligence agencies failed to nab terrorists,” Achakzai said.
Whether the Parliament was there only to facilitate lawmakers in offering fateha for martyrs of different terror attacks, he posed a question. The political party’s chief also said that he would not be offering fateha for the departed in the Parliament.
This is not the first time Achakzai has come up with a questionable statement. Last month, the party chief had claimed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province belonged to Afghans.
His statement had come in amidst government’s statements and derivation of policies to send Afghan refugees back, the families which settled here after Afghanistan-Soviet war. He openly bashed Nawaz Sharif-led government’s policy towards Afghan refugees and stated that they could live here without any fear and hesitation in their “own land.”
“If Afghans are harassed in other parts of Pakistan, they should come here to the Pakhtunkhwa province, where no one can ask them for refugee cards, because it also belongs to them,” Achakzai added. On the other hand, government is adamant on its stance about turning Afghanistan nationals back who are living here for decades citing terror reasons.
It has been stated numerous times on various national and international platforms by notable faces of the government including Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Sartaj Aziz that some refugee camps serve as hideouts of operatives of terror outfits whose handlers sit in Afghanistan and play them. On the other hand, army is constructing a gate at the porous Torkham border, around 36 metres in Pakistan’s territory to check cross-border movement which earlier was used various times to carry out attacks in different parts of the country. -DNA
