Mohammad JamilLogo(New)By taking the PPP to task, Interior Minister has completed hat-trick, as earlier he had lambasted Mehmood Khan Achakzai, head of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), who had passed acerbic remarks stating: “Just blaming RAW for Quetta incident will not work as all anti-state elements are on payroll of agencies. I think Quetta incident is a result of failure of our intelligence agencies. Their officers should be fired for not delivering results.” He should know that even the US has enormous resources and scores of intelligence agencies yet it could not stop 9/11. Mind that no heads had rolled. Last month, in an interview with Afghanistan Times he said: “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) of Pakistan belongs to Afghans and they can continue to live there without any fear. If Afghans are harassed in other parts of Pakistan, they should come here to the Pakhtunkhwa province, where no one can ask them for refugee cards.”
Beneficiaries of Pakistan do not feel any qualms to criticize Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies. It is worth pointing out that Mehmood Achakzai is member of National Assembly; one brother Muhammad Khan Achakzai is Governor of Balochistan; other brother Hameed Khan Achakzai and his nephew Abdul Majeed Khan Achakzai are MPAs; one brother-in-law Spozemai Achakzai is MNA and other Hassan Manzoor is DIG Motorways police. Zia-ur-Rehman, brother of Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman was appointed as Commissioner Afghan Refugees (ARs-KPK) on the recommendations of Establishment Division in April 2016 reportedly without adhering to the prerequisite of coordination with provincial government. It has to be mentioned that he is a grade 18 officer whereas the requirement for the slot is Grade 20. Since his brother has strongly opposed the repatriation of Afghan refugees, there is a perception that the latter could exploit the situation and impede the repatriation process.
On Friday, Minister of the Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan addressed to a number of issues during his press conference. While addressing the controversy that arose during the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) conference, Nisar said that proper reception was given to the Indian Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh during his visit to the country. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan stated that rhetoric statements were made even before the Indian Home minister arrived in Pakistan. “It was said that the Indian Minister of Home Affairs will not meet with Pakistan s Interior minister,” he said, further adding that a peaceful protest was carried out in Pakistan against the atrocities being committed in Kashmir by the India forces. He stated that criticism was made from India regarding the conference, therefore it was necessary to respond to those statements.
His quid pro quo to Indian Home Minister Rajnath was appreciated by the people, as Rajnath has been spewing venom against Pakistan earlier and also before he came to Pakistan to attend SAARC meeting. Interior minister also lambasted those who criticised the National Action Plan (NAP), stating that those who had not even read the NAP were analysing it. He was critical of Pakistan People s Party (PPP) over the reaction of some of the party s Members of National Assembly (MPA) against Nisar s speech in the NA earlier in the week. He questioned that why were anti-terrorism measures not taken by those in power during the past as the war had been ongoing for the past 15 years. Nisar said that those who wanted to get involved in a stunt after his speech in the National Assembly, did the stunt.
