IftikharChaudhryISLAMABAD, September 7: Contempt of the court petition against former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has been filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan for writing letter to incumbent Chief Justice regarding personal issue of plot.
Riaz Hanif Rahi Advocate moved contempt plea on Wednesday, seeking contempt of court proceedings alleging ex Justice Chaudhry for illegally using the SC logo and showing himself the judge of august court of the country.
Petition says that the allotment of plot is a personal and civil issue, so letter written to the CJP was for personal befit and was an effort to influence the institution. Former CJ has committed contempt because no body can claim justice over the base of his portfolio, it added. Petition further says that all citizens are equal under the law of land but ex CJ has undermined the authority of top court and tried to create hurdle in provision of justice.-Sabah
