Uncertainty, indiscipline, adhocism and lack of seriousness mar the government:some of the federal ministers are pulling legs of one another and are not on speaking terms even;some of them don’t mind making statements that run counter to the policy of the prime minister;decisions are made only to be withdrawn soon under unions’ pressure. This is not the way to run government. Small wonder Aitzaz Ahsan has come out with the demand that the federal government be dissolved and a coalition government be set up to run the state.
One doesn’t know whether it was slip of the tongue or a fit of anger provoked by his biting criticism made by the leader of opposition in the National Assembly but let us admit that the interior minister had, certainly let the cat out of the bag by saying that Khurshid Shah has been adequately rewarded by the government for buying his friendly opposition. The PTI chief has been very rightly demanding of the prime minister to elaborate what concessions he had given to the PPP for buying the support of Khurshid Shah in parliament and this has put the prime minister in a very embarrassing position. It stands firmly established that despite the fact that the interior minister and the prime minister are in the same political party there is helluva difference in their political outlook. Both have fixed notions on many issues and wild horses cannot drag them away from their particular viewpoints.
Even after spending more than half of its constitutional term in office the government has not been able to find out a satisfactory workable solution of the PIA’s and Steel Mill’s imbroglios. Both of these important national assets have become white elephants which are bleeding the economy this country white owing to their mismanagement of successive governments of this country.
