ISLAMABAD: February 1: Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB has said that the recent report of Transparency International for the year 2015 rated Pakistan in Corruption Perception Index (CPI) from 126 to 117 which is a great achievement for Pakistan due to NAB’s efforts. This was stated by Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB during a meeting to review overall progress of NAB at NAB Headquarters.
He said that NAB is a specialized agency doing a specialized job, a special duty to the nation to eradicate corruption from the country. He said we have to redouble our efforts to come up to the expectations associated with NAB but I must bring on record the hard work and commitment shown by all ranks of NAB officers/officials towards their national duty particularly in the last two years. He said NAB has prosecuted corrupts and has recovered looted public money since its inception Rs. 265.977 billion which is a great achievement. The allocation to NAB for its working since creation is Rs. 10.111 billion, which is only 3.7 per cent of recoveries made by NAB. In the year 2015, NAB has recovered Rs. 4.5 billion of the looted money. It was only due to untiring efforts and systematic and gradual improvements that NAB has been brought back on the rails by the present management of NAB.-PR
