supreme-courtISLAMABAD, October 21: The Supreme Court on Friday fixed November o1date for hearing on the Panamagate petitions filed against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his family members and others.
The case had been adjourned for two weeks after a hearing on Thursday. The new date falls just a day before the PTI’s scheduled ‘lockdown’ of Islamabad on Nov 2.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali will hear four petitions filed by the PTI, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), AML chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Advocate Asad.
The top court implementation and fixation branches on court directives has issued notices to all concerned parties including PM Nawaz Sharif, others and directed to bring their National Identity Cards with them for the hearing.
It is worth mentioning here that the SC on Thursday issued notices to Prime Minister Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz, hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Capt (R) Safdar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, director general Federal Investigation Agency, chairman Federal Board of Revenue, and the attorney general.
A petition filed by the PTI Chief demands that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar be stopped from working in the government. Meanwhile an inquiry into allegations in the Panama Papers against the prime minister and his family be launched. Another petition filed by the Jamat-e-Islami Chief Siraj ul Haq demands that all the allegations against the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) be asked to investigate all Pakistani companies named in the Panama Papers.
Sheikh Rasheed from Awami Muslim League has demanded that a commission be formed to investigate the allegations in the Panama Papers.-Sabah
