It is too early to comment whether or not Uzair Baloch has confessed his crimes voluntarily because experience of hindsight reveals that, more often than not, confessions in this country are recorded under duress and not without torturing the accused . If whatever he has reportedly said to the investigating officer, according to the media reports, is even fifty percent true, the PPP is then certainly going to be in trouble. His frequent contact with the top PPP leadership is established by the statement of his daughter. Prima facie he had let loose a reign of terror my masterminding the notorious Lyari gang of Karachi. Sheikh Rashid has a point there when he predicts hard days for the PPP. If the ruling party in Islamabad tried to stymie the action of the Rangers against the top leadership of the PPP in the light of confessions of Uzair Baloch due to any political expediency, there is a likelihood that the Army’s top brass would not like it thus creating a misunderstanding between the Armed forces and the political leadership so it would be in the interest of the state that law be allowed to take its due course. Let the courts decide the veracity of Uzair Baloch’s confession.
The likes of Uzair Baloch are nursed and nourished by a majority of political parties. Didn’t media spotlight vandalism of one Gulu Butt sometime back allegedly belonging to the present government?Politics in this country, unfortunately, is marred by coercion and political blackmail and many political parties do this dirty work through their Uzair Balochs and Gulu Butts!
