Imran Khan has always been applauded by his opponents and critics for his honesty resolve and integrity, but virtually ridiculed for being too adventurous, too naïve, too self-centered and too injudicious to become a successful politician.
November 1, 2016 was the day when the PTI Chairman stunned his critics and opponents by taking a decision that his avowed adversaries as well as opportunistic allies had least expected. The war-songs suddenly were stopped and the atmosphere of Bani Gala started echoing with the drum-beats of victory.
The jubilant Khan announced: “We came here for lockdown which ironically has been enforced already by the government. Our lockdown was intended to force the Prime Minister to either resign, or to submit himself to scrutiny Thanks God our objective stands achieved. The Supreme Court has ordered the Prime Minister and his family to submit their reply in two days to the questions raised. The scrutiny has begun. We stand vindicated. Tomorrow therefore will be thanksgiving day. There will be no lockdown. We will hold a mammoth public meeting to celebrate, and express our gratitude to Allah.”
Those who had been criticizing Imran Khan for having taken his party into a blind alley, and for having ventured to trigger an explosive crisis conducive for wrapping up the democratic order, suddenly realised that they had been outsmarted— infact outfoxed.
Imran Khan was promptly accused of having taken a U-Turn. Also of having betrayed those of his workers who had endured the brutality of the state machinery. The PPP started licking its wounds. Khurshid Shah stated that IK had proved to be an Elephant of Poras.
What Khan had actually done was: he had silenced those who were sarcastically mentioning the Umpire’s finger again and again: he had emphatically established his solidarity with the rule of law and democracy.
Well Done Khan!
