“If I were to run, I would run as a Republican. They are the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie, and they would still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific”.
Guess who said it, if not the man who literally has done what he had said in 1998 in an interview to People Magazine.
The man is now the President-elect of the world’s most powerful country. The man will lead soon a nation which arguably is the most powerful ever.
Of course his name is Donald Trump. He has ‘Trumped’ the whole world in a way that is virtually mind-boggling.
The rumours had been rife since some months that Russia had plans to ‘influence’ the results of the U.S Presidential Elections by interfering in the Electronic System from the Cyberspace.
These rumours were substantiated by the warm relationship between Putin and Trump.
Let these rumours remain rumours and not be taken seriously. More plausible is the theory that a Clinton victory had been taken for granted so passionately that the Clinton voters took the whole electoral exercise complacently, and resultantly didn’t turn up at the ballot boxes in the numbers required to beat Trump.
Whatever really happened to catapult Trump into the White House, the fact remains the world in general and America itself in particular has, for four years in the minimum, to deal with a man who regards ‘LIES’ as a legitimate tool of conducting business or politics or morality.
That the saner America has taken only a night to decide to come out in the streets to protest against and challenge the results of the Presidential Elections, shows how intensely he is hated by those who hate him. One of the more cynical comments on the elections is: AMERICANS VOTE NOT A WOMAN BUT A WOMANIZER INTO POWER.
