
ISLAMABAD, November 17: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif brushing aside any apprehension over border situation said that don’t worry Pakistan’s defence was in safe and strong hands.
“Don’t worry over the situation on Loc and working boundary as country’s defence is in safe hands,” army chief said while talking informally to media after attending joint parliament session which was also attended by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sahrif, Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Opposition Leader in NA Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Opposition Leader in Senate Barrister Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Rashad Mehmood. Turkish President Recap Tayyip Erdogan addressed the joint session of the parliament. General Raheel Sharif praised Turkish President Reccep Tayyip Erdogan’s address in the parliament. Upon his arrival in the House, the army chief conversed with several lawmakers and exchanged greetings. However, he avoided to formally talk to the media but went on to respond to a question about situation at the Line of Control (LoC). He said that Pakistan’s defence was in strong and reliable hands. As the army chief came out from parliament Rehman Malik salute him while Mushahid Hussain Syed, Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Sirjaul Haq, PML-N MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed and other parliamentarians shake hand with him. Army chief met briefly with MQM member parliament Rasheed Godial, who was shots five time but luckily escape death, and inquired health after him.-Sabah
