ISLAMABAD, November 21: The processions were taken out and majalis held in every nook and corner of the country to mark the Chehlum (40th day) to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) on Monday.Mourning processions with Alam, Tazia and Zuljinah would be taken out in different cities to mark the day. Mourning processions are being taken out and mourning sittings are being organized in different cities.
In Karachi, central mourning processions will set out from Nishtar Park after a mourning sitting there. The procession will end at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah after passing through its traditional route.All arrangements have been completed for security of the procession as all passages around the route of the procession have been choked with shipping containers and shops and commercial areas sealed.Pillion riding has been banned in different cities including Quetta and Karachi. Meantime, preparations are underway to suspend cellular services in several cities as part of security arrangements.Strict security arrangements have been placed to avoid any untoward incident. Besides, the mobile phone service will remain suspended at the routes of the processions in some cities. In Lahore, 2500 police personnel have been deployed on the route of the Imam Hussain’s Chehlam procession. Biometric verification has been made compulsory for the attendants of the procession and NADRA officials will also be present at the processions along with their equipment for biometric verification. -DNA
