LAHORE, December 8: The Lahore High Court on Thursday reserved its verdict over the maintainability of a petition seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. The petition, filed by a man Faisal, was heard by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah. The petitioner said in his plea that the prime minister had launched a scheme in his previous government in 90’s titled “Qarz Utaaro Mulk Sanwaaro” seeking money from the people to repay the foreign debt of the country.
“The nation deposited billions of rupees but the government did not disclose where those billions spent,” the petitioner said. He said that, “Irregularities have also been found in Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).”
He said, “Sharif brothers are not eligible to rule under the Article 62 and 63 of the Pakistan constitution and pleaded to the court to disqualify the prime minister and the chief minister of Punjab.” The bench, after listening the arguments of the petitioner’s counsel, reserved its verdict on the maintainability of the petition. -DNA
