Very many people are likely to be acquainted with the phrase ‘Israel Lobby’.
A few may have read a book jointly authored by John J. Mearsheimer & Stephen M. Walt titled “THE ISRAEL LOBBY and US FOREIGN POLICY”.
I am making this reference to the said lobby for the simple reason that our country too is seriously threatened from within, by a group of camouflaged activists functioning in various areas including media whom we can easily classify as The Indian Lobby. This lobby has either a mission to fulfill or is on some assignment. Mostly it is constituted of (the so-called) liberals, civil society activists, and elements that have never reconciled their mindset with the ideology of Pakistan as widely perceived and accepted. But there are also mercenaries who have enlisted or registered themselves with this lobby purely for material gains. Among them are a few journalists whom in the past I had known as patriots. A classical case is that of an anchorperson, who before the advent of the Cable TV or the Electronic Media age was a known Editor/Columnist/Reporter. He had won considerable acclaim as one who had interviewed Usama Bin Laden.
I have cited his example just to make my point. Some known patriots too have been won over by the India Lobby through substantial material gains Among them is a senior anchorperson/analyst who recently paid homage through a tweet to the shrewd opportunism of the former Army Chief General Raheel Sharif for having secured a substantial chunk of land close to the Bedian Road Lahore in a shady manner. He had earlier done a few programmes in different contexts to question the integrity of General (R) Raheel Sharif, arguably the most popular army chief of our history and recognized among the most competent world generals of his times.
Incidentally the two heavyweights of journalism mentioned here are associated with a media group that has come to be known for its ‘undeclared war on Pakistan Army and its powerful arm the ISI. It was a ‘footman’ of this media group who had recently planted a story regarding General ( R ) Raheel Sharif’s “land-grabbing” based on which a controversy was triggered leading finally to a clarification by the ISPR.
In this clarification the DG ISPR has stated that the ‘debate’ surrounding the allotment of 90-acre agriculture land to the former army chief had the potential to create misunderstanding between the state institutions as it was based on a sinister plan to bring the Pak Army to disrepute.
Major General Asif Ghafoor, the DG ISPR has stated in a tweet that the allotment of the land had occurred as per rules through constitutional provisions.
It needs to be stated here that the land close to the Indian border is allotted to the retired army officers as per constitutional provisions, on the basis of their ranks and achievements. It also needs to be clarified that the said land cannot be transferred or urbanized.
Who stands to gain from the India Lobby’s campaign against the Pak Army?
