SIACHEN, February 23: : Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday said that despite facing internal security challenges, Pakistan Army is fully prepared to for an effective response to the perpetual threat from the East, according to the ISPR. The ISPR said the COAS visited Siachen to pay his respects to martyrs and addressed the troops at Goma and Gilgit.
“We owe our independence to sacrifices of our shuhada (martyrs). Nothing is nobler than laying one’s life in defence of the motherland,” he said.
He said that Pakistan Army is proud of being soldiers of Pakistan and will continue to defend it irrespective of terrain or weather difficulties, the ISPR said.
The Army Chief, upon his visit, laid a wreath of Yadgar-e-Shuhada of Gyari. He also interacted with notable community members of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The COAS assured the locals that the Army is extending full support to all initiatives aimed at ensuring rights of Gilgit-Baltistan as it being a part of the federation, the ISPR stated.-Agencies
