KARACHI, February 28: The price of petrol has been increased by Rs1.71, announced Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar on Tuesday.
Moreover, the price of diesel has been increased by Rs1.52, he added. Petrol now costs Rs73 per litre, while diesel costs Rs82 per litre. He said that there has been no change in the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil but the value of kerosene oil has been rounded off. The
price of kerosene oil and light diesel is now Rs44 per litre each.
The prices of crude oil will increase on an international level, claimed Dar.
This adds to the woes of commuters as prices of petrol and diesel were increased by Rs1 each on February 16, this year.
The announcement comes a day after Oil and Gas regulatory authority (OGRA) submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources asking for an increase in the prices of petroleum products.
OGRA had proposed a revision of Rs17.55 and Rs10.94 in the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil respectively. It also requested for an additional increase of Rs2.96 per litre and Rs2.18 per litre increases in the price of petrol and high-speed diesel, respectively.-Agencies
