ISLAMABAD, March 1: Foreign Office Spokesman Muhammad Nafees Zakaria has said that the entire nation should be proud of successful holding of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit.
Foreign Office Spokesman was expressing these views in his interview with the state-run television channel here on Wednesday.
Muhammad Nafees Zakaria said that Afghanistan is a sovereign state and Pakistan respects its participation in the ECO summit on any level. He said that Afghanistan has participated in the entire process
with regard to ECO summit and it has supported all the decisions. Foreign office spokesman said that Afghanistan has agreed on the implementation of the roadmap of 2025. He said that countries of the region are not much attached with each other and trade between them is also much less than expectations. He said that the tourism is also to be enhanced between the countries of the region. He said that the eyes of the entire world are on the Asia Pacific region, saying that the ECO is an uprising organization and it has a lot of opportunities and there is utmost need for awareness of these opportunities.
Foreign office spokesman said that the theme of the summit was promotion of linkages for prosperity of the region. He said this theme is in according with the peaceful neighborhood and shared prosperity vision of the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He said that leaders have expressed in the summit that they would further promote the vision which is necessary for the entire region.-Sabah
