Yes General—- ! Nothing Is Higher Than Pakistan

Pakistan’s Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has come out emphatically with what is called “Mission Statement.” This mission statement has been made at a time when the country is rocking like a ship in turbulent waters. And this statement has not been made on behalf of just the Army; it is made also on behalf of the Nation. The army chief, while talking to his soldiers in an important ceremony of the famed Baloch Regiment, has said that “National Security remains the prime consideration and goal for us”, and that “No person or institution is higher than the Country we are honourbound to defend.”
This carefully drafted Mission Statement which has zeroed in on the ‘core goal’ of the army, lays emphasis first on ‘National Security’ which as we all know is the central subject of both, the Memogate drama which has been brought alive by Hussain Haqqani’s confessions and the Newsgate mystery, which remains unresolved even in the sixth month despite the fact that the Minister of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had vowed to put the ‘noose’ around the necks of the culprits within a matter of days.
Incidentally, in both these cases related to National Security, Pakistan Army has been targeted for international ‘disrepute’. The presumption happens to be that in one case the ‘plan’ has originated from the fertile brain of Asif Ali Zardari, and in the other case that of Mian Nawaz Sharif.
The explanatory part of the mission statement says that no person or institution can be higher than Pakistan. The reference obviously is to the highest persons in the country’s politics— AAZ and MNS— and to the Parliament (regarded as supreme).
