Kabul has once again started flogging a dead horse by saying that it has reservations on the Durand Line. There is no gainsaying the fact that it has no foreign policy of its own and it has been taking its cue from New Delhi since 1947 insofar its dealings with this country are concernced.
Its resistance to the fencing of Durand Line is understandable. Neither New Delhi nor its new friend Washington want it fenced because a better managed Durand Line would prove a stumbling bloc in the way of their sabotage activities inside Pakistan.
Trying to revive decided issues or trying to tinker with old established geographical boundaries which have been sanctified by time is a dangerous game. New Delhi should not forget that what is sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander too. Beijing can also create a problem for New Delhi by questioning the veracity of the Mcmohan Line tomorrow. One wonders what is going to be the reaction of New Delhi should that happen! Those who live in glass houses should never throw stones on others.
There is political element in the country which is not sincere with this country. They advertently or inadvertently play into the hands of our enemies. We have never been short of Mir Jaffars and Mir Sadiqs. The powers that be must wake up and smell the coffee before it is too late.
