Will it be Operation Supreme Court 2?
It is too early to answer that question. But when Caesar is in trouble, one can expect him to plan new adventures. Here is a Caesar who has succeeded a conquering General like Zia ul Haque—who has outlived Ghulam Ishaque Khan, who mourned victoriously over the demise of General Asif Janjua, who disdainfully dismissed General Karamat, who outsmarted General Pervez Musharraf—-who went to the grave of Benazir Bhutto to say SORRY— who colluded with his one-time foe Zardari to share power—and who in between invaded the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
This Caesar has an impressive profile. Precisely why many regard him as invincible—immortal.
But like all Caesars in history he too has an Achilles’ heel. His children. Specially his daughters. More specially the elder one.
At this point of time this all-conquering Caesar seems to have got himself besieged—making me remember a line, a one-time DG ISPR General Salimullah had spoken to me about him.
“As his well-wisher I wish he had not mastered the art of shooting himself in the foot.”
He has done it quite often. But with Caesar’s luck survived.
This time however he has chosen to surround himself with hoodlums. Fake hoodlums. The kind of hoodlums who run away at the sound of the first shot.
The countdown has begun. The countdown to his Armageddon.
Or to yet another invasion of the Supreme Court of Pakistan? The statements of his hoodlums in this respect are ominous.
He has however some genuine friends too. Estranged but genuine. Raja Zafar ul Haque is of no consequence. Chaudhry Nisar Ali however matters. But will he be Brutus? Or Antony? Or Cassius?
Only God knows.
But keep your eyes on the Supreme Court of Pakistan where some of the most honourable men of this Rome are sitting in judgment to decide about the future of this Nation.
To be or not to be was Hamlet’s dilemma.
The dilemma of these honourable men is:
CAESAR OR NO CAESAR?
