BAHAWALPUR, February 16: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should work in responsible way.
He said NAB intentionally raid the houses and offices of innocent people and harass them. He said the NAB also tries to take action on wrong cases, adding that he has brought this thing in the knowledge of Chairman NAB and will do same in future. He said the government officers are scared prior to making any decision, adding that the officers are scared and threatened this is not right thing. He said the country could not function and projects of country could not be moved forward and Pakistan could not make progress in this way. He said notice should be taken over these things; otherwise the government could take necessary legal action. He said people vote and someone else oust the governments, adding that this joke and play with Pakistan is not right, adding that this process should end from country once and for all. He said today there are some politicians who did not speak anything except lie.
Addressing the PML (N) workers in Bahawalpur on Tuesday Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif vowed to strengthen and empower the local governments to address the problems faced by the people.
He said the people have pinned great expectations with the local representations and they will fully empowered to serve the masses. He said the success of the local government would be success of party and government.
Nawaz Sharif pointed out that the country is faced with multi dimensional challenges including terrorism and energy crisis.
He said Parvez Musharraf gave seven point agenda to masses but not a single point was implemented in the eight years. He said situation of country become further worsen and terrorism and load shedding was started in country. He said PPP government also did nothing on this front. Nawaz said he has reached at the conclusion that the government is not a bed of roses but a bed of thorns. He said if we will fail to deliver to masses we will have to answer before the Almighty Allah. He said the today’s powers of prime minister are different from 1990s. Prime minister said he has never lied before the nation, adding that he did not believe in politics of lies. He said today there are some politicians who did not speak anything except lie. He said this kind of politics exposes very soon in front of masses, adding that some people have understood this politics and some are trying to understand would understand soon.
Prime minister said he never said to overcome electricity crisis in one year or six months, adding that he speak the truth before masses and masses voted PML-N into power. He said when he came into power the country was facing three problems including terrorism, electricity load shedding and deteriorating economy. He said terrorism is being overcome today, load shedding is ending and unemployment is also being overcome.
He said if any government is working according to the aspirations of the masses then it should be allowed to work. He said if democratic governments from 1999 till today were allowed to work then the fate of the country would have been changed today and Pakistani people would have made great progress. He said today Pakistan has lagged behind in world in progress, adding that Pakistan is an atomic power but there is no electricity in country. He said we should learn lesson, adding that he remained in exile for seven years. He said we are working honestly today and international institutions are saying that Pakistan is moving towards progress. He said China is true friend of Pakistan and it is making investment of $46 billion.
The Prime Minister said the government has started work on several power projects with the aim to overcome shortage of electricity by 2018. He said according to NEPRA tariff 300 billion rupees would have been spent on three coal projects of 3600 megawatt in Punjab, adding that these projects have been established in 150 billion rupees.
He said transparency international has improved the rating of Pakistan regarding transparency in projects. He said whatever has been done by previous governments is in front of masses. Prime minister said it will take time to overcome the problems facing by masses. He said on best rates LNG agreement has been signed with Qatar. Prime Minister further stated that recently government has made an agreement for the purchase of gas costing billions of rupees with Qatar government, which will be provided at concessional rates by Qatar due our brotherly relations. He said the nation should have been given the uninterrupted opportunity of work, adding that Pakistan could not only become Asian tiger but also become world power. Prime minister said he loves with Bahawalpur, adding that he would issue 0.6 billion rupees for establishment of lake in Bahwalpur today (Wednesday).
Federal Ministers Parvez Rashid, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Engineer Mian Balighur Rehman, Senators, MNAs and MPAs were also present on the occasion.-SABA
