The right placing of the right person in the Administration of Punjab was a KEY feature of the Noon League strategy. For this, another Najam Sethi at the helm of affairs in Lahore was simply QUINTESSENTIAL. It has not happened this time. The plan to have Nasir Saeed Khosa installed with the support of the PTI opposition leader of Punjab was shot down at the last hour, and one of the hand-picked henchmen of the PML (N) couldn’t find favour with the PTI. Resultantly it was left to the Election Commission to nominate the Caretaker Chief Minister. Professor Askari, a leading man of intellect and knowledge who does have views of his own but no political connections or loyalty got the nod. And panic rocked the PML (N) ranks. Almost every known leader of some stature in the party was there in the press talk that ensued. The Election Commission was forcefully asked to change its choice as Professor Hasan Askari’s political views were not in harmony with those of the PML (N). The Election Commission promptly rejected Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s plea, arguing that the choice had been made on merit. It was only coincidental that Professor Hasan Askari was the PTI’s nominee.
So, for the first time the PML (N) has to contest the elections with the Punjab Administration in the hands of a person who will not ‘receive instructions’ from or dictated by the Sharif family.
The fear is not that the Election would get stolen by those not behind the PML (N). The fear is that it would be hard to steal the Elections if the man in control of the Province’s Administration does not allow the hand-picked loyalists of the Sharif family stay in the right places.
The PML (N) leaders unfortunately for them have no other choice than to control their panic and to rely more on the popular support that they claim, has risen to monumental proportions.
It is not easy to invest your belief in your own lies. The PML (N) leaders know that an electoral debacle is staring at them. The only wayout is a forceful adherence to the Khilai Makhlooq (Alien Support) narrative.
I feel sorry for you Mian Nawaz Sharif. You are up against not Imran Khan, not Asif Zardari, not Justice Saqib Nisar, not General Bajwa and not the Khilai Makhlooq.
You are up against Allah. He has chosen to unleash His Wrath on you for all that you have done to bring MISERY to the country that was created to establish HIS RULE.
