Somebody has very rightly said that if a nation is sought to be destroyed there is no need to drop atom bomb on it or hit it with missiles. All you have to do is to lower its educational standard and give a free hand to students to indulge in cheating during exams. Not only patients would die at the hands of doctors produced by such a system, the buildings constructed by the engineers getting degrees under it would collapse. The performance of economists and religious scholars churned out by such a system would also leave much to be desired.
There are more than fifty counties of the world which are Muslim . What a pity that there isn’t a single university in the Muslim world that could hold a candle to Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton or Harward , to mention a few. Enough money is not being spent on promotion of education in this country . Only highly educated persons can realise the importance of education but, unfortunately, they are being kept away from parliament . They cannot tolerate even a bare graduate as a member of parliament.
Not many moons away, some professors were caught red handed in the Panjab university while plagiarising thesis of foreign scholars in their written work which they were doing to get their doctorate in their respective subjects. One doesn’t know what punishment was meted out to them by the concernced authorities. If there wasn’t any provision of law in the Pakistan Penal Code for the type of offence committed by them what is parliament for? It could have passed necessary legislation in the matter. There was certainly a need for making an example of them but it seems they got off lightly.
