A treason case registered against Pakistan’s former ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani. Mr. Haqqabi has allegedly conspired against the state during his tenure as ambassador to the USA in 2008. A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the former ambassador on the complaint of lawyer Molvi Iqbal Haider in Preedy Police Station.
The FIR mentioned that the former ambassador made some derogatory remarks about Pakistan during an interview in the US. It is stated that Mr. Haqqani’s objectionable remarks have undermined the country’s national security and challenged the sovereignty. “Haqqani deliberately issued venomous remarks on Pakistan, its forces and the Kashmir cause,” read the FIR.
Having a controversial past, he has been the member and head of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba, the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami during his stay as a student at the Karachi University. He has also been the supporter of military dictators Zia-ul-Haq and spokesperson of ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in 1992. He has also worked as the spokesperson of Benazir Bhutto in 1993.
Husain Haqqani has been to every port. From a hard core Taliban type Zia ul Haque Jamaathia ideologue to a right wing Nawaz Sharif supporter where he willingly forged Peter Galbraith’s signatures in a classic case of falsehood to besmirch Benazir’s name and reputation. Out in the woods during Nawaz’s second term, having unsuccessfully tried to worm his way back into the PML-N again, he found a golden opportunity when Nawaz was overthrown by Musharraf.
And then this amazing man shifts gears and becomes a left wing secular, jumping ship (the parallels with rats and moles are amazing) to Benazir Bhutto as Secretary Information and then Chairman House Building Finance Corporation. He ingratiates himself to Benazir by marrying the sister of Benazir’s closest confidant, Naheed Khan.
Although due to the efforts of Pakistan’s security forces, 80 percent terrorism has been eliminated in the country, yet organized propaganda campaign by the foreign entities continues against Pakistan.Indo-Israeli lobbies which are well-penetrated in the US administration and Europe, research centers, think tanks, universities and so-called human rights groups leave no stone unturned in continuing their endless propaganda against Pakistan. Particularly, RAW is availing the opportunity of the US-led organized propaganda campaign against Pakistan.
It is regrettable that some internal elements of the country also support the external enemies of Pakistan. In this respect, Pakistan’s former ambassador to the United States, Husain Haqqani has also become the part of the anti-Pakistan Propaganda.
Furthermore, he has been attacking Pakistan like an Indian lobbyist or an extreme wing BJP or RSS satrap would. Hussain Haqqani relishes the notorious reputation of attacking Pakistan repeatedly. He has been charged of treason before too but to no avail. Despite his holier than thou protestations and rejecting the charges of being an Indian mole as a “figment of the ISI” with common people being its willing instrument. It can be said with a fair amount of certainty that he is an Indian official mole (if one can call a deep undercover mole “official”).
He has been playing openly in the hands of Indians. He frequently visits India and attends seminars and conferences, where his only purpose is to deliver anti-Pakistan speeches. Even in Pakistan, FIRs have been lodged against him for delivering hate speeches against Pakistan and the government. Accused of delivering hate speeches and writing books and articles against armed forces and the sovereignty of Pakistan, Hussain Haqqani was also stated to be the mentor of the Memogate scandal and had issued visas to Indian and CIA agents, like Reymond Davis, while serving as Pakistani ambassador to the US.
“Haqqani issued thousands of visas to “CIA contractors” and has the gall to say that he got them cleared by the “Defense Attaché”. A classic Haqqani deflection tactic. The DA in DC had no process to check the antecedents of people being issued visas without clearance from intelligence agencies in Pakistan.”
It is in the United States’ best interest to maintain a divide between Pakistan’s civil and military leadership in order to get benefit from the vacuum generated by the tussle between the two. Civilian governments in Pakistan have generally a habit of seeking western legitimacy and like the present government make all efforts to present anti-army stance to please the US establishment. Our politics makes a better sense if seen from this perspective as to how the US maintains a tension between Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership and support the later in order to counter, or weaken, the former.
The Memo gate scandal is in the same realm as the OJ Simpson murder and Panama gate. Memo gate was a flagrant attempt by a serving Pakistani Ambassador to deliberately harm the interests of Pakistan and colluding with the US with the primary aim of denuclearizing Pakistan.
It was planned, spearheaded and executed by this man who today writes his bile and poison and invective against Pakistan and his favorite whipping boy, Pakistan Army. And he had the support of Asif Zardari, then President. Similarly, Hussain Haqqanis objective was to undermind Pakistan, weaken it, denuclearize it and in process personally acquire more political power and influence to become National Security Advisor, Foreign Minister or even the Prime Minister.
